Japanese - Nihongo

For centuries, Japan has been the home to one of the world's great and prosperous civilizations. Its 125 million people comprise the world's third largest economy, making Japanese one of the world's top languages.

Japanese has no proven ancestry in common with any other languages, although distant relationships with Korean and other languages have been conjectured. Despite being spoken as a major language in only one country, the prosperity of Japan has made it the fourth most common language on the Internet.

Japanese is an exceptionally difficult language to learn or process on a computer. Japanese texts blend together three writing systems. The grammar is quite different from European languages or other Asian languages such as Chinese, including a complex system to allow one to express appropriate levels of formality and politeness.

As the home language of one of the world's great cultures, Japanese is a very high priority at Gistology.
